  • Calls for Expression of Interest – Five New Calls Open 

Five new calls for collaborative projects have been opened by the Human Brain Project (HBP).

The calls cover infrastructure co-design, modeling allosteric drugs, data protection, gender equality coordination, and comparative cell analyses. The calls are an important part of the HBP’s work, bringing together novel approaches, data, theory and collaborative platforms to generate new insights into the brain and to ensure the project delivers on its scientific and social goals.

  • Publishing Queer/Queer Publishing (Submission Deadline: Friday 17th November 2017; Conference Date: Friday 16th March 2018, University of London, Senate House Library)

Senate House Library is calling for papers on queer publishing for presentation at a 1 day conference taking place at Senate House in March 2018. The conference forms part of the events program for the exhibition ‘Queer Between the Covers’, held at Senate House Library from January to June 2018.

  • What’s New in Queer Studies? (L’Aquila 31 Marzo – 2 Aprile 2017)

  • Sexual cultures 2 – Academia meets activism (University of Sunderland London Campus, South Quay, London, April 8-10 2015)

This conference, co-hosted by the Centre for Research in Media and Cultural Studies, University of Sunderland, and the Onscenity Research Network will take place on April 8-10 2015 at the University of Sunderland London Campus, London, UK. Along with two keynote speakers addressing themes of intersectionality and sexual cultures, there will be keynote panels, bringing together key academics and activists on the topics of: Sex and disability; Trans* and non-binary activism; Sex worker and stripper activism; Youth, race and sexuality. Deadline: October 31 2014.   • 2015 Central States Communication Association Conference (Madison, WI, April 15-19, 2015)

The Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Caucus is seeking cutting edge research regarding sex, gender, and sexuality to program for the 2015 conference. The Caucus also welcomes submissions of academic panel proposals, roundtable discussions, and other programming proposals beneficial to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and otherwise queer individuals and communities. Proposals are due October 3, 2014.

  • International Conference on Women’s Studies (Vienna, Austria 27-28.09. 2014).

Submissions of abstracts (up to 500 words), short bios (up to 100 words), and email contact should be sent to Dr Martina Topić (martina@socialsciencesandhumanities.com) by 15th August 2014. Panel proposals should be sent by 15th July 2014. The Centre for Research in Social sciences and Humanities welcomes paper proposals from scholars, NGO activists, Master and PhD students, and independent researchers.   • Trans*Formational Pedagogies

  • Rights on the move – Rainbow families in Europe

Two-day international conference closing the research project with the same name. The convenor is the Faculty of Law of the lead partner, the University of Trento. The conference welcomes contributions that focus on the legal issues involving non-heterosexual, trans and intersex persons who intend to found a family, who live as a family and who have to manage difficult times in their relationship (divorce, death, etc.).   • Special Issue – Early Career Researchers II

In order to encourage the next generation of academics, GenderForum has launched an annual Early Career Researchers Issue.
Contributions can be new academic writing composed specifically for this issue, or exceptional, previously unpublished term papers on all topics pertaining to Gender Studies, Feminist Studies and/or Queer Theory. Deadline: 1st July, 2014.
